Game Recap 7/21

Julio Reyes would get the start for the Cutters. He got off to a shaky start after dealing a walk to Carlos Asuaje to start the game. Gabriel Lino was behind the plate and threw a bullet to second to catch Asuaje stealing.

The Cutters went down in order in the bottom of the first, as did the Spinners in the top of the second.

Gabriel Lino would take Teddy Stankiewicz down town to score the first run of the game.

After a groundout to start the third, Reyes hit a batter and allowed a single to Jose Colorado. However, a 6-4-3 double play ensued, getting Williamsport out of the Jam.

Williamsport would get a man on base, but would not capitalize in the third.

In the fourth, Lowell, tied the game on an RBI single by Kevin Mager.

After that, each team turned to their defense, as both Lowell and Williamsport played great defense. The Cutters also failed to put a man aboard until Lino hit a two out double in the bottom of the ninth. He did not score, and there would be free baseball at the Bow.

Neither team failed to score in the first two extra innings. The Spinners would threaten with men on second and third with one out. A ground ball was hit to first baseman Logan Pierce, who then threw home, putting Manuel Margo in a rundown. After Lino threw down to third, nobody was covering home. Pierce sprinted to the plate and was able to take the throw and tag the runner out on a questionable call on the play. The scoring was 3-2-5-3.

The bottom of the twelfth got underway with a leadoff single by Lino. After Pierce flew out, Giandido Tromp followed with another single. Samuel Hiciano was then given a free pass to load the bases with one out. Malquin Canelo hit a one hopper to third base, but the throw home pulled Catcher Carson Blair wide of the plate, allowing Lino to score the winning run.
